Billions of people around the world suffer from sleep problems. Scientific research shows that nearly one billion people suffer from sleep apnea alone, who experience symptoms such as interruptions in breathing during the night. This can lead to a variety of health problems, including snoring, daytime fatigue, and possibly even more problematic conditions like heart disease and diabetes. Diagnosing sleep apnea syndrome is not easy, however, and often requires observing patients in a sleep laboratory. But in this stressful environment, results can be skewed.

To solve this problem, Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX/OTCQX: IFNNY) has partnered with Sleepiz, a Swiss digital health technology company, to launch an easy-to-use home sleep monitoring solution. The solution uses Infineon's XENSIV™ millimeter-wave radar technology and Sleepiz's reliable algorithms, and can be integrated into any connected smart home devices such as smart speakers and bedside lamps to meet the needs of the mass consumer market.

Philipp von Schierstaedt, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the RF & Sensors business at Infineon Technologies, said: "Infineon's XENSIV™ radar sensor accurately measures vital signs such as heartbeat and respiratory rate without touching the human body or violating privacy. , which creates more opportunities for healthcare applications. Infineon and Sleepiz have teamed up to develop an innovative sleep monitoring solution that can be integrated into smart home, smart medical and smart health devices, providing extremely precise . We are excited to help improve people’s sleep and quality of life.”

Dr. Soumya Sunder Dash, CEO and co-founder of Sleepiz, added: "With Infineon's deep technology and decades of experience in radar, and Sleepiz's expertise in analyzing breathing and sleep-related diseases and conditions, We make sleep monitoring easier and provide more accurate data. Infineon has partnered with Sleepiz to bring technology in the sleep lab to consumers, allowing them to observe their sleep and sleep comfortably at home. Health. Together, we have opened up a new market for accurate home sleep monitoring solutions, and our software helps make medical insights accessible to the general public.”

Knowing vital signs data can help millions of patients and doctors detect sleep disorders such as apnea, thereby improving sleep quality. Thanks to Infineon's XENSIV™ millimeter-wave radar technology, relevant vital sign data can be collected in a contactless and anonymous manner without identifying the person. Thanks to the high sensitivity of radar technology, it can detect this data and penetrate a variety of materials, such as blankets, to sense sub-millimeter movements of people closest to the device. Relevant data will be analyzed with machine learning (ML) algorithms provided by Sleepiz and stored anonymously in the cloud for users to access.

Sleepiz has conducted numerous clinical studies with top medical institutions such as Charité in Berlin and Ruhrlandklink in Essen and other sleep research institutes, proving the accuracy of its algorithms. As a medical device manufacturer, Sleepiz is already supplying medical sleep monitoring devices with Infineon radar technology to doctors in Switzerland and Germany. Now, the two companies look to work together to transform the consumer market, integrating their solutions into smart speakers and other smart home devices.
