Building on NXP's more than two decades of leadership in developing multi-market applications processors, the i.MX 91 family offers an optimized combination of security, features, and power efficiency to meet next-generation Linux®-based IoT and industrial application needs.

Newly released protocols change the direction of new product categories in the IoT and industrial markets, such as Matter, the interoperable secure connectivity standard for the smart home of the future, or the ISO 15118-20 standard for electric vehicle chargers. Such new products are usually based on Linux, because Linux can provide developers with the scalability and programming convenience they need to facilitate application development and prolong product life. i.MX 91 application processor adopts Arm® Cortex®-A55, running frequency up to 1.4GHz; supports new LPDDR4 memory to ensure platform longevity and reliability; supports dual Gigabit Ethernet gateways or multi-network segments; provides dual USB Interface; provides basic I/O, suitable for products in smart factories, smart homes, smart offices, medical equipment, metering and cost-effective modular system platforms.


The integrated EdgeLock security zone provides advanced security features such as lifecycle management, tamper detection, secure boot and certification path simplification. Developers can easily gain access to these important security features through secure software support from NXP. The combination of security and ease of management is conducive to increasing the credibility and service life of the platform design, ensuring that the platform design will remain in the market for a long time.


The i.MX 91 series can be used together with NXP's co-developed cost-effective power management solution, which is also already part of the i.MX 93 series ecosystem. The EVK and software packages for the i.MX 91 family integrate with NXP's broad portfolio of scalable wireless solutions. These include the IW612, the first family of tri-band radios on a single chip to support Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth® 5.2 and 802.15.4. NXP i.MX applications processors are sold worldwide through resellers and retailers and are supported by NXP software, tools and software from a broad ecosystem, and are fully supported.
